Meet My Girls: Tabitha & Ginger

That’s right. Those two gorgeous boys you’ve already met aren’t the only felines around these parts. Before them, there were the OGs, the girls, Tabs and Ginge.

These gorgeous gals came into our lives 12 years ago. For my 8th birthday I had no presents, only a card that told me it was a ticket to my present. After a short drive, we arrived at a farm, now from mentally going from thinking I’d got a pony, to a puppy, we finally went inside and little Ginger was handed to me.

I had never felt so happy, excited and in love. Until I laid eyes on Tabitha. She was my type of cat, I could just tell. I was still unbelievably excited to have Ginger, but I loved Tabitha too. I told my parents how cute I thought she was, and, not for the last time, we left with two kittens.

Ginger is the OG. She’s quite possibly the most affectionate cat in the entire world. She knows a lot of cute tricks, from opening doors, to having an actual conversation with you. She knows how to get your attention, and is entirely willing to reach out her claws to remind you it’s been 30 seconds since you’ve petted her.

Named by my family because of her tabby coat, ever since we brought Tabitha home, she has been the queen of the household. One of the prettiest kitties to ever grace this Earth, Tabitha knows full well of just how gorgeous and loved she is. She’s also a man’s cat, she is willing to be around ladies, but definitely prefers the company of a man.

And those are my girls! They were definitely the best birthday present I had ever gotten up until that point, and they were my first proper responsibilities. I’m so glad we did end up getting both of these girls, because I feel it really helps in them adjusting and having someone else to grow up with.

What was your first pet?
