Frends Rose Gold ‘Layla’ Headphones Review

Hey guys! I was recently brainstorming ideas for blog posts, and I realised that I’ve had my Frends headphones for so long, and I’ve never given them a full review. So today I thought it’s about time I rectified that, so I’m going to take you through what I think of this product.

The aesthetic. Let’s be honest, these headphones really are quite gorgeous, particularly perfect for youtubers/bloggers, whereby you can constantly take pictures of them, wearing them, and just in general talk about how fabulous they are. In the very words of Frends, “Rose gold delivers a soft, warm glow whilst creating a sense of opulence and romance. Paired with supple white leather, this headphone is the portrait of femininity.”

They are also designed not only with femininity in mind, but the Layla headphones are significantly smaller than the Taylor ones, as these are designed with jewellery in mind. The fact that the headphones are so small means that they can be worn comfortably over the ear, while staying away from the lobes, so you can also wear earrings.

I also think that the fact you can personalise every set is a fun pro to have when it comes to headphones. You can choose from a range of different caps to change up the look as often as you want, it’s like having 5 headphone sets in 1!

The portability. Not only are these headphones very pretty, but they are also perfect for use on the go, as they fold away into a very compact little bag, so they’re not bulky and in the way like most overhead headphones can be.IMG_1889The sound. Ok, so now onto the actual make-or-break of headphones, the quality of the sound. Now after a long and torrid affair with all types of headphones, in ears, overhead, cheap and expensive, I’ve learned what to expect from certain headphones. So when I test out a new pair of headphones, I can really hear the difference.

With cheap headphones, you tend to get a reasonably monotone, tinny sound. You’ll also hear the occasional crackle, and usually the cable is incredibly weak and will break within a couple of days.

That’s why these headphones are my favourite, and have been for over a year now. They are obviously an expensive investment, but I think that they are more than worth it. In my eyes, instead of buying 12 cheap sets over the past year, I’ve saved my money by investing in these. These provide a premium, full and unfiltered sound. They aren’t the bass-iest of all of the headphones I’ve tried, but they definitely provide a much fuller, quality sound.

The cable itself is also similar to a rope cable, and the connecting jack is at a right angle, meaning that it isn’t under a great deal of pressure when it’s in your bag or pocket, and thus at a much lower risk of breaking/being damaged.

Cons

Honestly, the only con I can think of for these headphones is the price, not everyone can, or wants to spend this amount of money on a pair of headphones. Other than the price, I can see no faults or drawbacks to this product.

That’s it for my Layla headphones review, let me know if you’ve tried these headphones, or if you’ve got them!

Be sure to drop me a comment with any particular post you guys would like to see from me in the new month!

  1. These headphones are gorgeous, I’ve been wanting them for ages! I was worried that the sounds quality wouldn’t be as good on these so that’s why i opted for beats, but I really want to get these because I would feel comfortable wearing them out the house as well!

    1. I think for sound quality, you definitely made a good choice with Beats, but the quality of these is impressive, and they are cute too!
