A Few Nights In London

Hi guys! Just over a week ago I had a very last minute trip to London. While I was away, I kept taking pictures of everything, as every detail seemed to have its own beauty and charm. I think this is a perfect time of year to visit London, because it was chilly and everywhere was lit up with gorgeous twinkling lights, it was almost surreal.

So now that I’m back home, and have been looking back over my pictures, I thought I’d share them with you. Continue reading “A Few Nights In London”

April Snippets

GUYS WE DID IT! We’re at the end of another month, and once more, I’m giving you another snippets video!

This month officially saw the start of Spring, and therefore finally times for me to get back outside, and spending more time with the goats, Michael and Merlin.

I also had the ultimate pleasure of getting to see all of my best pals from school, as they all came home for Easter, so I had lots of fun days with them, and finally got to go back to Yo!Sushi with one of my ultimate queens, Issy (although you probably know her as Bella 😉 )

I also decided to carry on my spring cleaning theme from last month, and finally re-evaluate what I was keeping in my desk, and whether or not I actually needed it. Luckily I found these awesome ‘finger-lasers’, and realised that my priorities were entirely in order. (You can also see Sawyers blatant disregard and self-entitlement, as he jumps onto my bag of things to throw out.) ((I also thought that the truth behind the theme music for this month is funny for this clip, as I’m sure no one would’ve thought that while tidying, I was rapping Wiz Khalifa.))

And finally, through all of the University and blogging deadlines I’ve encountered recently, my room really showed my struggle at keeping on top of everything. Luckily for me, I’ve been practising magic since I was 8.

So here’s Aprils Snippets, I hope you guys enjoy it!

What did you get up to this month? Let me know the 2 best things that happened to you this past month in the comments!

10 Things That Make Me Happy

Who doesn’t love a big ol’ dose of happiness? I saw posts like this floating around on a couple of blog post idea lists, and I thought it sounded like fun, and a little way for you guys to get to know me better. So today I’m sharing 10 things that make me happy with you guys!

backgrounder

Big groups of people being brought together

I mean most people that know me well will be able to tell you just how hilarious this fact is. I really love seeing people being brought together by things, be it through events such as music festivals, going to see a theatre show, or joining in a holi-themed festival. My own brother can make me cry by saying the word “crowds” to me. So yeah, it’s kind of a huge flaw in my otherwise very harsh, unloving and cold mystique.

Upside down kittens

I mean, who isn’t brought to near-tears by a cat who has fallen asleep and rotated their head completely upside down? Just me? Well you guys are missing out, like forreal.

My Friends

This does sound really cheesy and cliche, but I swear it; I have the greatest, most supportive friends in the entire universe. They always seem to be right there when I need them, with the best advice and shoulders to cry on. I owe a lot to them all. Soppiness.

Chicken Nuggets

Obvious. Offer to buy me chicken nuggets and we’re kinda best pals for life.

Seeing the moon

I just seem to find seeing the moon wherever I am quite comforting. No matter how far from home I am, no matter what happens each day, the moon will always come back. Plus it’s really gorgeous, like seriously we should all appreciate it more.

Cute/fluffy socks

These are something I seem to how low key-collected over the past few years. They are just so cosy and lovely, and there are endless pretty and insanely cute designs, so you appreciate them on both a comfort, and aesthetic level too.

Rilakkuma (& Korilakkuma) (also Pusheen tho) ((and Gudetama omg))

Aren’t all of these guys just insanely adorable though? Look at Rilakkuma and tell me you don’t want to smile. LOOK AT HIM. I think I have a very soft spot in my heart for Korilakkuma because I pronounce it like Corinne-akkuma in my head, so we’re like soul mates or something. And Pusheen is a cat, so what’s not to love? (Gudetama is like my lazy spirit animal/egg)

Vintage cameras

I’ve recently discovered a deep love for not only owning vintage cameras, but learning how to properly use them, it must feed into my passion for photography and general composition of shots.

Big Band music

Perhaps feeding into my love for the general 1950’s and vintage style, I do love hearing a big band or orchestra performing live. In fact, I actually think it feeds into my weird thing with crowds and people being brought together, gotta be honest.

Deadpool

No wait, Ryan Reynolds. No it’s Deadpool. Ryan. Deadpool… Reynolds. Both, oh my dear god.

That’s it for my quick list of 10 things that make me happy, let me know in the comments some unique things that make you happy too!

20 Things I’ve Learned In 20 Years

Hey guys! I don’t know if you knew this, (jk we all know I put a countdown in my sidebar, we all knew it was happening) but on the 24th of October, it was my 20th birthday! So naturally, with all of my accumulated wisdom over these vast 20 years, I thought today I’d share with you guys 20 of my top things that I’ve learned in the past 20 years.20 Things I've Learned In 20 Years

  1. Say yes to opportunities as often as you can, you won’t believe how much it’ll change your life and general outlook.
  2. Wear clothes that make you feel amazing, regardless of what anyone thinks or what you think they’ll think. Your confidence will shine through.
  3. You need bad times. Withouth these, there would be no contrast to the upliftingly insane great times.
  4. Remember number 3 when it’s one of those days. Think how much better things now have the opportunity to get.
  5. Life really does speed up. My brother explained to me that this is because the ratio changes as we get older. For example, when you’re 20, that year is 1/20th of your life, but when you’re 10, it’s only 1/10th. This might make little sense, but seriously, life speeds up.
  6. Walk. Whenever you can.
  7. Ask questions. You’d rather feel nervous for a second, and then worry-free because you have your questions answered, than stressed because you don’t know what’s happening or expected of you.
  8. Forgive, forget, move on. It’s so much better for you mind, health and stress lines!
  9. Celebrate. Celebrate occasions, events, achievements, people. Just freaking celebrate everything.
  10. Say yes to yas. This really links into number 9, but I’ve found that you feel so much better in yourself if you say yas to other people. If someone is wearing something outrageously fabulous, say YAAAAAS GURL. If someone overcomes adversity, say YAAAAAS. Out loud, or in your head, it’ll give you a great mentality.
  11. Having a bath with a bubble bar, a body scrub, face mask, then skincare routine and a mani/pedi is at least a fortnightly thing.
  12. “We’re all fighting hard battles, so you’ve gotta be kind.” Remember that everyone has their own life, and you might only know what’s on the very surface. Be kind, and understanding.
  13. The world isn’t against you.  People are nice. Nothing is ever the end of the world.
  14. Don’t ever tell yourself no, or “I can’t”.
  15. Talk to your siblings. No one has a closer personal experience of your life than they do.
  16. Accept that there are things that you cannot control. Once you accept this, life will become so much simpler.
  17. Nothing is permanent. Not one thing. There is no one thing that is sacred, everything is subject to change and disappear. Appreciate the now.
  18. Love. Keep your heart open. Adopt, live, give, and just love.
  19. Heartache really is healed by the sea. Time and the sea, helps towards healing everything.
  20. Don’t allow people to change your own perspective. If you think you’re good at something, but someone else doesn’t, it doesn’t help you in any way to adopt what they think. As David Foster Wallace puts it, “You’ll worry less about what people think about you when you realize how seldom they do” Quite simply, we’re all so concerned with ourselves, and what other people think of us, that we are all too busy to actually think about other people.

I hope you guys enjoyed this post! Let me know if you did in the comments below, also feel free to drop any lessons you’ve learned there too, it’s always lovely to share experiences.

5 Free Printables & Facebook Page Announcement

Every now and then we can all do with a personal mantra, or just some words to settle and reassure us. So today I created 5 printables with some quotes that I love, all for different situations.

quote3 I adore this quote because it’s to the point, punchy and sassy. Any time I’m feeling a little bit down, or if someone in particular is getting you down, either because of the present or the past, I love being reminded that how we feel is up to us. Your self-perception and confidence is all determined and can only be changed by you. And as I like wearing makeup, (even if my drink of choice is Fanta…) this one feels great for me.

quote2 This quote entirely speaks for itself. Never do anything that you don’t absolutely love. You can always stop. Speak up and stay true to yourself and your preferences.Don’t waste a second of your life half-invested in something.

quote1 Again, this quote has no grey area. Personally I have never been very good at dealing with change. But as soon as I internalised this saying and stopped questioning the why of everything, life becomes so much easier. As humans, we are all constantly searching for the why in every event, but if we simply accept that everything happens for a reason, but some of these reasons may not be immediately evident, it doesn’t matter. Just embrace it and move on.

quote5 I love this quote because it reminds me that none of us are in this alone. Yes, there will always be people who appear worse off than you, and there will always be people who seem better off. But the reality is, you never truly know what another person is going through, because we cannot experience life from their eyes and with their thoughts. So therefore the best thing to do is to just be kind.

quote4And finally I love this quote because it doesn’t delve too deeply into life or emotions, it’s just a great little mantra to have whenever you’re shopping or getting dressed. All too often to place importance on what other people think and what other people are doing, and in the meantime we lose who we are and what we like. So this is just a more fun, confidence based quote to keep in mind if you’re having a down day, or questioning what to wear based on what others are wearing, or what they might say.

And that’s it! Those are just a select few of some of my favourite quotes that I like to keep in mind on a regular basis. Do you have a personal mantra? I’d love to hear it, so let me know in the comments!

I’ve also created a Facebook page that you can like, if you would like to do so! This way you can stay up to date with Organic By Nerve, and get in touch with me if you’d like to request a post, or collab!

Meet My Boys: Sawyer & Milo

A few years ago, well, precisely 3, I had what I can only ever explain as, a need. I have always been so happy with my pets, and I adore every single one of them. But 4 years ago I felt like I was ready for a bigger responsibility. I had a need for a kitten. Like all kids, I approached my parents, gave an outstanding speech about how lucky they are to have me as a child, and therefore the most fitting reward would be a kitten.

I was told no.

But being as tenacious as I am, I gradually began my plot to both prove myself, and annoy my parents. So began the year of non-stop-kitten talk.

Eventually my father gave in and told my mum to ‘just let her have a kitten already.’ And so the search began. By search, I mean one day of browsing the classifieds and Internet. Heck, I’d been waiting a year already, I wasn’t planning on waiting any longer. My mum even told me of a friend of hers, who had a newly pregnant cat, and I could have pick of the litter. But I would not wait long enough for her to give birth. Instead, I found a handsome black and white kitten, and I begged to go and pick him up immediately, but was told I’d have to wait until the next day. I couldn’t sleep a wink.

The next day FINALLY rolled around, my father told us he’d see us with our 2 kittens later on. I argued back, insisting I only wanted 1. 3 cats was more than enough for me, 4 was just silly. We went on the journey to pick him up. Sawyer Scott. He’d been called that since before I knew I was getting him. We got there, I fell in love. My mums friend texted me, jokingly telling me I could only get a kitten if I named him Milo. So naturally, I told my mum we needed to get another one, because Sawyer was already firmly named.

We left with 2.

Sawyer Scott Bygrave | 2 | Black and white

Ragamuffin. Prince. Sawyer is the embodiment of a handsome, cheeky, loveable boy. He IS his uncle Tyler. Everything Uncle Ty does, so does Soy. And what Soy doesn’t copy, he watches intently and demands to be a part of any activity.

Hobbies Include: Fly Hunting, Being persuasive, emulating uncle Tyler, sitting on laptops, rolling in soot, counting with his tail, picking fights he is not big enough for, being gorgeous and chasing Ginger.

DSCN0857

Milo Taloola Bygrave | 2 | Golden as the sun

Lion-in-the-making. Refuses to wear a collar because he knows he is destined to be a wild one. Milo is much more a relaxed bystander. Observing everything. Silent until absolutely necessary. Trusting of a select few. You’re the most honoured in the room if he chooses to seat himself on your lap. I also like to describe My to people who don’t know him, as someone who likes to go everywhere either ass, or claws first.

Hobbies Include: Judging people while they sneeze, biting his nails (specifically on my bed, despite rule #3, no clipping nails on my bed), sleeping on pillows (despite rule number #2, no sleeping on pillows), obsessing over anything horse-scented and sighing.

#DearMe

5

1. “You’ll stop worrying so much about what others think of you, when you realise how seldom they do.” – David Foster Wallace. We’re all so wrapped up in our own lives and battles, that we all too often forget that everyone else is wrapped up in their own. One day this will click for you and your confidence will grow.

2. Wear what makes you comfortable, and don’t care what anyone else thinks.

1

3. Celebrate your music taste, don’t worry if others don’t share it.

4. Don’t fight your family so much, they’re only trying to ensure the best for you.

5. Your brother is not your arch enemy. You two can be the greatest team.

4

 6. Laugh more. Laugh at everything. Waste no time being embarrassed or nervous, just go for it, you’ll be so glad you did.

7. Unfortunately some things in life are purely there for you to learn a lesson, so learn it and move on.

8. Your friends are one of the greatest things in your life; and they change you for the better.

6

3

9. No matter how much you love chicken nuggets, or how hungry you think you are, you cannot eat 3 Happy Meals in one sitting.

10. As cliché as it is, if you don’t ask, the answer is always no.

Those are just some things I would tell my younger self, were I able to. Is there anything you wish you knew when you were younger? Let me know in the comments below!
